Xiaomi Poco F1 receives Android Pie beta based MIUI 10 8.11.15 update

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is currently being seeded with a global open beta of MIUI 10 version 8.11.15. This brings all the goodies from Xiaomi on one hand and also adds several new features from Google’s latest Android 9 Pie software, thus hinting that a stable build is just a week or two away.

Precisely a week after seeding the Mi A2 with a beta version of Android Pie, Xiaomi is now rolling out an open beta update to the Poco F1 smartphone which shifts the software version of the device to Android 9 Pie and with that, comes the latest MIUI 10 from Xiaomi.

According to XDA Developers, the Poco F1 is currently being seeded with a global open beta of MIUI 10 version 8.11.15 which brings all the goodies from Xiaomi on one hand and also adds several new features from Google’s latest Android 9 Pie software. This could well possibly indicate that a stable build of the update is just a week or two away since it only took Xiaomi a week to convert the beta update to stable on the Mi A2.

The beta package has been followed up with high recommendations, meaning it’s nearly as stable as the official package and testers haven’t yet reported any alarmingly large issue. The update can be downloaded as a recovery ROM or Fastboot ROM and can be flashed through any recoveries, official or TWRP. But if you wish to not unlock your boot loader yet, it’s advisable to wait for the stable update when MIUI suggests the same in a couple of weeks.

As the device nears its stable Android Pie rollout, this will not be the only major Android release for the OnePlus killer as Xiaomi earlier revealed that the Poco F1 will also get an update to Android Q which will be announced next year. The company is also in talks with Qualcomm and Google to release an update to the Poco F1 to roll out Widevine L1 support so that users will be able to stream HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos.

The Poco F1 comes with a 6.18-inch full HD+ display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass and a resolution of 2246x1080. On the software front, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI on top and the exclusive POCO launcher. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and it is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. Xiaomi Poco F1 has 12-megapixel with LED flash along with a 5-megapixel camera and a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
