5 best smartphones under Rs 20,000 to play PUBG Mobile

To say PubG Mobile is the most popular game right now in India would be an understatement. The multiplayer battle-royale game where 100 players shoot and kill each other to be the last man standing has caught on like wildfire. While this is hardly the best designed mobile game, the primary reason for the game’s infectious popularity is the ability to play the game on just about any smartphone. Albeit in a lower graphics settings, PubG Mobile runs on entry-level phones, all the way to the premium flagships where you get the best experience. In India, however, the mid-range segment is the most popular with most phones under Rs 20,000 offering decently powerful performance, just enough to play games like PubG Mobile and even excel at it.
If you are in the market to buy a mid-range smartphone mainly for playing PubG Mobile, there are some great options to choose from. Let’s take a look:

5. Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro may not be a huge upgrade over its predecessor, but it can handle PubG Mobile just fine. The Snapdragon 636 is showing little signs of rust but the popular battle-royale works just as well as other mid-rangers. In fact, on GameBench, the Redmi Note 6 Pro recorded 25 FPS with 97 percent stability, indicating it’s jitter free and no lags. You won’t however get the best graphics on the phone as the Adreno 509 GPU can only support medium graphics, but the 6.26-inch display makes it a pleasant experience. It has also has a large 4,000mAh battery ensuring you can play on for longer.

4. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2

The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 was a quick successor to the previous stock-Android mid-ranger by the Taiwanese giant, and it makes a strong argument at being one of the best phones for gaming in the mid-range segment. With 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 660 processor, it has enough resources to handle long hours of gaming, especially intensive titles like PubG Mobile. On GameBench, the Max Pro M2 delivered stable frame rates of 30FPS with little lags. While that’s not the max PubG Mobile FPS can go, it’s enough to play competitively online. The 5,000mAh battery makes the Zenfone Max Pro M2 last longer than most mid-rangers while gaming.

3. Realme 2 Pro

The Realme 2 Pro also sports the same hardware as the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 but thanks to a larger, more immersive display, playing PubG Mobile on the Realme 2 Pro is a slightly better experience. The game has little to no lags and a steady frame rate of 30 FPS, according to GameBench. There is also a dedicated game mode that silences incoming messages and boosts resources to allow for better gaming. The 3,500mAh surprisingly lasts quite long allowing for longer hours of gaming.

2. Honor Play

The Honor Play is designed keeping PubG Mobile in mind. In China, the phone was a result of an official collaboration with Tencent and playing PubG Mobile on the phone is a unique experience. The phone supports 4D haptic feedback in the game. Every time you press the trigger you receive a vibration feedback. It also varies from one gun to another, and while it doesn’t really contribute to you playing better, the experience is a lot more enhanced. Furthermore, there’s 3D surround sound through headphones that helps you track footsteps and gunshots in the game. Finally, the phone supports GPU Turbo that Honor claims boosts the performance by 60 percent as compared to the previous generation. It also runs on a flagship Kirin 970 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. On Gamebench, we registered 40 FPS on PubG Mobile with high stability, which means the Honor Play is one of the best smartphones to play PubG Mobile.
