Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 leak reveals dedicated Xiao AI button, sliding camera

The leaked picture features the Mi Mix 3 with blurred edges, which could be made to hide the button layout on the sides. This is because the Mi Mix 3 is expected to sport a dedicated Xiao AI button on the left edge which is hinted through the Xiao AI settings displayed on the phone’s screen.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has popped up yet again with a bezel-less design and added features as part of a move to succeed the Mi Mix 2s that was announced last year. A new leak confirms previous speculations and reveals two new additions to the Mi Mix 3 which comes in disguise of a Xiaomi AI button and sliding camera.

The picture that has been posted on Weibo reveals that the Mi Mix 3 like its predecessors won’t equip a notched display and will instead be an all-screen display with minimal chin at the bottom. The reduced chin thickness means there will be no front facing camera at the bottom and Xiaomi might just as well opt for a camera unit that slides out of the back panel.

When made a reality, the Xiao AI button will work similarly to the dedicated Bixby button on Samsung flagships. Users can ask instant queries through Xiao AI voice assistant and also remap the button to function differently on different presses.

The Weibo page also shares a GIF which gives us a glimpse of the sliding functionality of the front-facing sensors which pop up when a user pushed the display downwards, revealing the camera and the earpiece units. With the slider open, the Mi Mix 3 resembles the Oppo Find X which came with a motorised sliding camera for the front and back cameras.

Furthermore, the Mi Mix 3 is expected to be Xiaomi’s most premium phone yet with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, slider camera, wireless charging and native 5G support out of the box. There could also be a Mi Lex smartphone which is touted to be the more expensive version of the Mi Mix 3 though we’re yet to get unofficial word from Xiaomi about the same.
